Welcome to My Care Consultant’s dedicated page for Right at Home clients. Here you will be able to read more about our service and how to get in touch.
We are one of a group of experts called ‘care navigators’ whose purpose is to provide an independent, safe space to help those in need of care, their family, carers, or their legal representatives, to find quick, accurate answers to the many questions that arise when someone needs care or is paying for care.
We offer a free, no-obligation, 15-minute telephone consultation to answer some initial questions and help to give the peace of mind you need. If you’re paying for your care, MCC can answer your questions and introduce you to a suitably qualified, FCA regulated financial adviser, who will help you decide how best to pay for your care.

Paying for care: Important things that you and your family should know
What happens if I run out of money?
Can I secure my chosen care for life?
What are the different ways to pay for care and can I guarantee payments for life?
Are you or a loved one having to pay for care and need answers to these and other questions?
If yes, our service is designed to help.
There are many different ways to fund your care fees
The first thing to be aware of is that there are several ways that care fees can be paid and the best way to pay for your care will depend upon your specific circumstances. Your best option might involve a combination of solutions.
With careful planning, it may be possible to use whatever assets, savings and income you have, in such a way that care fees can be paid indefinitely for as long as needed, whilst still protecting some of your savings, perhaps to pass on to beneficiaries.
The next thing to understand is that the earlier you address the issue of paying for your care the better. The best options typically require careful planning, but unfortunately it’s very common to find that people only seek help when they are starting to run out of money, at which point their options can be limited.
Financial advice can make a real difference
When it comes to seeking help, most people don’t realise that only specific financial advisers, who are regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and have achieved a certain level of qualification (including a recognised, specialist exam in long-term care), are authorised to advise on all the possible ways of paying for care.
This includes two little-known solutions that pay care fees at a chosen level for life in exchange for a one-off lump sum payment, which can be raised by using capital stored in your property.
Are you aware of the ten ways of paying for care?
The best option for any given individual could involve any one, or combination of, the following solutions:
Using your home as an asset
- A Local Authority Deferred Payment Scheme
- Rental income from your home
- Funds released through the sale of your home/downsizing
- Equity released from your home
- Equity released from your home, to purchase a plan that guarantees your care fees paid for life
Not using your home as an asset
- Liquid assets/cash/income
- Investments/portfolios
- Pension funds
- Long Term Care Insurance Product (LTCI)
- Third party top-ups
Seeking advice now could help you retain the care of your choice, for as long as you need it.
Whatever method is used to fund care fees, it’s likely that there will be inflation-linked care fee increases in the future. It’s also essential to keep in mind that you may require a higher level of care in the future if your condition worsens, which of course would mean higher fees. For example, if you are receiving care at home, there is the potential to increase care to meet changing needs, or even the requirement to move into a nursing home at some point. Accessing advice can make all the difference in ensuring you can continue to receive your chosen care, for as long as necessary.
